Why are so many women raised to be mortified if their body naturally “expresses” itself in public? Is a woman still a lady if she <gasp> leaves a little odor in the restroom after powdering her nose for fifteen minutes? What about those of us who swear like a sailor?
In this episode, Angela and Toni answer a listener’s question about cursing and being a lady, which leads them to ponder the other ways in which women are restricted from full expression… Yup, they’re talking about burping, tooting, and pooping, too. The ladies (yes, ladies!) delve into the lengths that some women go to to avoid anyone (read: men) from noticing that their bodies have normal functions that, let’s face it, may not always be pretty.
Toni and Angela contemplate the depth of the societal mores and taboos that lead to women being made to feel ashamed of their bodies and what that means for women’s health.
So, what does it mean to be a lady? How about a little self-respect and consideration for others?
